Do not pay workhorse money for Travis Etienne
New Orleans handed Travis Etienne a lucrative four year deal in free agency, and drafters are paying a top 15 running back price. But Alvin Kamara remains on the roster, and head coach Kellen Moore says he can envision ways to use both backs. Until the workload split clears up, bid Etienne as a strong RB2 rather than a bell cow, and let someone else pay the full three down price.
Alvin Kamara is an endgame value
Kamara has slid several rounds in drafts since the Etienne signing, yet nothing suggests he is going away. He reported to OTAs, publicly welcomed the Etienne addition, and Moore plans to keep him in the rotation. A veteran pass catcher attached to a real role for a few dollars is exactly the kind of late buy that wins auctions. Target him in the endgame.
Pay committee prices in Pittsburgh
The Steelers signed Rico Dowdle away from Carolina, and the plan under Mike McCarthy is a true timeshare with Jaylen Warren: Dowdle leaning toward early down and goal line work, Warren handling passing downs, and the staff keeping two fresh backs on the field. Neither deserves lead back money, so bid both as mid priced flex options. Fade Kaleb Johnson entirely; he sits third on the depth chart after a quiet rookie year.
Jonathon Brooks is the cheap upside stash
Jonathon Brooks says he is fully cleared after his second ACL tear, and Rico Dowdle leaving Carolina opens the RB2 job behind Chuba Hubbard for Brooks and Trevor Etienne. Reports from offseason work have been encouraging. He is a one to three dollar stash whose price cannot fully reflect his upside if the knee holds, which makes him a classic post hype auction target.
Budget premium money for Drake Maye
Drake Maye led the NFL in completion rate and yards per attempt last season, and New England has now added A.J. Brown as his alpha target. Analysts call Maye a top five fantasy quarterback with elite upside heading into 2026. He will not come at a discount in auctions, so budget premium quarterback money if you want him rather than hoping he slips through the room.
