Cardinals running back Trey Benson was waived with a knee injury designation at roster cutdown and will land on injured reserve, per Yahoo Sports and CBS Sports. That leaves James Conner, rookie Jeremiyah Love and Tyler Allgeier as the only backs left in Arizona's room. Love still needs real game snaps before he earns bellcow money, so keep pricing him like a talented rookie, not a locked-in starter. Conner and Allgeier are now the clean handcuff dollars in this backfield with Benson out of the picture.

Blue is out in Dallas, and Javonte Williams has no real competition left

The Cowboys waived running back Jaydon Blue at cutdown day, then claimed Emari Demercado off waivers from the Chiefs, while Malik Davis won the No. 2 job in camp, per ESPN and Yahoo Sports. Neither Davis nor Demercado has shown enough this preseason to threaten lead-back touches. Pay full workhorse price for Javonte Williams. He heads into the season as Dallas's clear bellcow, and nobody behind him is worth more than a pure late-round dart.

Dobbins locks down Denver's backfield, and Harvey opens as the forgotten back

The Broncos' post-cutdown depth chart has J.K. Dobbins atop the running back room, with RJ Harvey listed all the way down at RB5, a reversal from the even three-man split with rookie Jonah Coleman that many expected in camp, per SI and Yahoo Sports. Pay up for Dobbins now as Denver's clear early-down and short-yardage back. Harvey still gets some passing-down work, so he is worth a cheap late dollar, but drop his price well below what a true committee back would cost.

Panthers keep a settled backfield, and Brooks is the real Hubbard handcuff

Carolina's initial 53-man roster kept Chuba Hubbard, Jonathon Brooks and A.J. Dillon at running back, and the team still expects Hubbard back for the September 13 opener despite his lingering hamstring strain, per Yahoo Sports and Fox Sports. Brooks is fully healthy after his own long recovery and is the one who steps in if Hubbard needs more time. Pay Hubbard like a true starter, and grab Brooks as a real bid-worthy handcuff now that Rico Dowdle has left for Pittsburgh.
