Henderson trends toward a Week 1 scratch

Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson did not practice all week with an ankle injury. He still made the trip to Seattle for Wednesday's opener, but it now looks extremely unlikely that he plays, a step down from the coin-flip outlook earlier in the week, per Yahoo Sports, SI.com, and NBC Sports Boston. Price Henderson as a scratch for Week 1, not a maybe. If he sits, the touches move to whoever starts behind him, and that back becomes a cheap handcuff worth grabbing.

McCaffrey and Kittle both clear for full workloads in Melbourne

49ers running back Christian McCaffrey returned to full practice on Tuesday and is expected to handle a normal workload when San Francisco opens against the Rams in Melbourne, per Yahoo Sports and Athlon Sports. Tight end George Kittle also practiced with no limits, and the team backed up the good news by cutting backup tight end Brayden Willis, per CBS Sports. Keep both priced as healthy, full-workload starters. This is the clearest health update the 49ers have given all camp.

Jeanty's ankle keeps easing, but he still has not had a full practice

Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty has not taken a full practice rep since spraining his ankle on August 23. He returned to work on a side field Tuesday, and head coach Klint Kubiak said he is optimistic Jeanty will play in the September 13 opener against Miami, per Bleacher Report and Yahoo Sports. Price Jeanty as a likely Week 1 starter, but keep a little caution in the bid since he still needs to prove it in a real practice first.

Mahomes says he is on track, but the team has not signed off yet

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes told reporters this week that he feels on track to start Week 1 against Denver, just months after tearing his ACL and LCL. He has not missed a practice since he was cleared for football activity in July, per NFL.com and CBS Sports. Head coach Andy Reid says Mahomes still needs final sign-off from the medical staff. Bid Mahomes as your starting plan, but keep a one-week backup ready in case that clearance slips.
