Every game this week, previewed off the market

A spread and a total together give each offense its expected points, and that number is the scoring environment every skill player on the roster inherits. This is the whole slate in those terms — what the book has posted, where it has moved since it opened, and the one place the site’s own model puts a different number on the game.

Reading this week’s board…

How to read a preview

  1. Implied points, not the spread. The total says how much scoring the market expects; the spread says how it splits. Together they give each offense a number, and that number is what every player on it is projected inside.
  2. The move is the message. A total that opened at 44 and sits at 48 has been bet in one direction all week. Where the line came from says more than where it is.
  3. A disagreement is a flag, not a verdict. Where the site’s own fitted total is more than two points off the book’s, one of the two is wrong — and the book is the one with money on it. Read the gap as a reason to look harder at that game’s players, not as a call.
  4. Blank is blank. A game with no posted line prints nothing rather than a zero, and a game where either side’s model number is missing shows no gap at all. A gap of zero would read as agreement, which is the opposite of not knowing.
